primary school. They come from a background of poverty, illiteracy,
unhealthy living conditions and indisciplined life style. What they
lack in their family and society, they get from our school.
Through Child Sponsorship, you not only help a poor and needy child in attaining its right to education, but also a family who can never afford the expense for their child's education. Your timely action can help a poor child enjoy its life in school, instead of toiling as labourers somewhere else. With your valuable support we can make a difference in their life. |

| What is Child Sponsorship ? |
Child sponsorship is the commitment
you, as a sponsor make to change the life of a poor child and give
him / her a bright future, through regular contribution. This sponsorship
is for the education of the poor children in Navjyothi primary school
and for their higher studies, which they can never dream in their
life. |
| How does my sponsored child benefit ? |
This is the best way to change the life of the child and to show him / her a better path. Their change will remarkably influence their family and the society they live. Your support will provide a child good
and proper education. Along with this, they are provided with books,
uniforms, medical aid, a nutritious noon-meal, and also spiritual
nurture to mould as a moral, disciplined and responsible child.

| Can I sponsor more than one child? |
| Yes. You can sponsor as many children as you wish. |
| Am I the only sponsor for my sponsored child ? |
Yes. Till you opt for the sponsorship to discontinue, you will be the only sponsor for that particular child. |
| How are children chosen for sponsorship ? |
| You have the option for choosing the child by informing us the age group and gender. If that category is available we will chose a child for you. |
| Is there a specific age for a child to be sponsored ? |
| Since the children are from our school, the age group will be 3-11. |
| What I get when I sponsor a child ? |
| You will receive the child's photo and the details. You will also receive their progress report yearly, as per request. |
| Can I visit or do any correspondence with the child ? |
You are mostly welcome. Also, you
can send them greetings in their birthdays. Expensive gifts for
the child are not welcome, as this may create jealousy among other
children and the community. All the correspondence with the sponsored child should be done through Navjyothi. |
| How long can I sponsor a child ? |
| Child sponsorship is a long term commitment till they complete their 12th Class. If you wish you can continue to support them in their further studies. |
| Can I adopt my sponsored child ? |
| No. Since the sponsorship is for the education of the child and they stay with their parents, adoption is not possible. |
| What if I want to discontinue the sponsorship ? |
We understand the financial and personal situations change. If you need to discontinue, please let us know and we will find another sponsor. The child's education will not be affected anyway as we are committed to it. |
| If the child I sponsored drop out of the sponsorship program ? |
If the child that you are sponsoring
leaves the program, you will be notified as soon as possible and
given the opportunity to sponsor another child that is waiting for
sponsor. |
| How much does it cost to sponsor a child ? |
For just Rs. 3,650 ( US$100) a
year (Rs. 10 a day) you can help to give a child a brighter future.
It can be paid in two or three instalments also. |
| How much money actually gets to the cause ? |
More than 90% of the amount will
be used directly for their education and related expenses. Less
than 10% will be used for the administrative expenses and for the
improvement of school for the suitable atmosphere for their studies.
We may not be able to make much postal correspondence as it will
cost more money which will increase the admin expenses. |
| How can I make sure that the money I send is managed correctly ? |
We strongly believe and strictly follow transparency and accountability in all our transactions and in the managing of funds. We believe in stewardship than ownership of resources. Our accounts are timely audited by qualified auditors and we publish our annual reports and audited accounts yearly. You can get any clarifications related to your donation from our office, on request. |
| How will I make the payment ? |
| You can make the payment by Demand Draft / Cheque in favour of "Navjyothi Seva Samithi" payable at Chennai-44. You can also send the amount by Money Order addressed to The Secretary. Please see the contact us page for our project office address. |
